Lately there has been some incomprehensible fascination with personality testing associated with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Curious, I decided to take the test myself.

Prior to testing shona and shuqin predicted my personality type. And frankly, it also came as no surprise to me that they were right -_-" I find it scary how psychologists (and now consequently, the rest of the world) can detail my personality down to a tee without having to get to know me personally.

Not trying to be a wet blanket here, but I can already foresee this leading to some complications and over-generalisations, concerning interactions with MBIT 'enthusiasts'.

Math PT Woes - the bane of experimentation

ramblings

i rarely comment on class issues but lately there has been some in-class behaviour that demands my non-apathy.

disclaimer: i do not speak on behalf of the rest of the class. this is but my personal opinion.

i understand if there are people who are 'proactive' in nature and will not hesitate to question and clarify with the teacher during class time. however i do believe that having a full-out half hour argument with a teacher during lesson is a separate issue altogether. to say such behaviour crosses the line would merely be giving face to the perpetrators, so i won’t, because to me it isn’t just crossing the line, it is overshooting it by a mile.

such actions tantamount to disruptive behaviour. these people have their debates. they make their point. but in the end the one who walks away from the lesson feeling short-changed is me. because instead of receiving what the teacher has to bring to the table, i am made to spectate an inane little dispute, the end result of which does not benefit me in the least.

i find this behaviour quite inconsiderate. after all, these people are not the only ones in the class whom the teacher has come in to aid in their learning. taking up a large portion of everybody's class time over petty issues of personal definition, is especially detrimental to me, to whom lesson time is pretty much essential as it is hard to approach teachers outside this allocated time slot.

it gets worse when the teacher is already bad at time management. these people know it, yet they still insist on disrupting the lesson. does this not further exacerbate the problem?

so here is my suggestion to these people: if you are going to take more than 5 minutes, why not let the lesson go on as planned and settle your differences outside lesson time? that way we all get to actually learn something in class. let the teacher answer to your queries outside class, and decide if the issue you have brought up is of importance enough to share with the rest of us. i don’t think it is in your place to decide and impose that on the rest of the class.

please remember that lesson time belongs to EVERYONE, not just one person or the outspoken minority.

today, i risked life and limb to obtain some ‘incriminating footage’ of a certain someone frolicking with my lollipop cushion. it was worth it. then again, next time i’ll be sure to think twice before rushing headlong wildly to face such mortal danger. i have little desire for a premature death.
